

Detective Jon Cooke passed away on July 2, 2021. He served the city of Hollywood with the Hollywood Police Department for more than 23 years. While being assigned to the Detective Bureau, Detective Cooke was a part of our Burglary Unit, Domestic Violence and Violent Crimes Unit, where he helped countless victims. He was slated to be the next Task Force Officer for the FBI’s Violent Crimes Unit. Detective Cooke not only helped people while at the Department, but was also known to mentor children and assist combat veterans.
Detective Cooke previously served in The United States Armys with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed. Our sincerest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
Detective Cooke is survived by brothers William Cooke, sister Pamela Head (husband Harley Head), Jon Timothy Cooke, John-David Cooke (wife Linda Cooke), half-sister Ziegler Cooke of Nevada, Uncle, Luther Cooke (wife Jacqueline Cooke) of Charlston, South Carolina, nieces and nephews: Madalyn Head, Hayden Head, Ashley Head, Sophie Head, Austin Cooke and Emily Cooke, and other family and friends.
Detective Cooke is preceded in death by his Mother: Charlotte Marie Herman Miller and his Father: William Jennings Bryan Miller.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Wounded Warrior Project. The family of Detective Cooke wishes to thank the Hollywood Police Department, Sunrise Police Department, Coconut Creek Police Department, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Ft. Lauderdale Police Department, PBA, FOP, Scuotto’s Pizza and Mission BBQ, and everyone who has supported our family.
