José Luis Villafañe was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to María Cristina Velazquez Correa and Isabelo Villafane Machin on August 11th, 1937. He married Felicita Aponte Guzmán on January 12, 1962 in Bronx, New York. He worked as a Captain for Crowley Maritime for Thirty years. He served in the Navy and was awarded with the “Good Conduct Medal”.
José Luis Villafañe was a beloved husband, grandfather and great grandfather. José is survived by his wife of 60 years, Felicita Villafañe and by his six children; Emily, Marangeline, Virna, José Luis, José Monserrate and Joselyn Villafañe. 12 grandchildren; Henry, Paola, Claudia, Peter, Alberto, Paul, Adrian, Lorenzo, Victoria, Joselind, Lucas and Leo and three great grandchildren; Llandel, Jax and Alonzo.
He enjoyed life and to make others laugh. José was one who also loved to travel and explore new cultures; in his travels he toured Europe, did a safari in Africa, celebrated his 21st birthday in India. But above all else he loved spending time with his family and watching his favorite team play, the New York,Yankees!
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Jose Luis Villafane honor to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center.
