Joseph Manuel Bencomo was born in Tampa FL on July 7, 1923. He was named after his Father. He had 2 older brothers, David and Will Bencomo, and a niece Dalia Cruz with whom he was raised.
He lived and attended Hillsboro High School in Tampa, FL where his parents worked in the Cigar Factory.
After graduating from high school, he went into the U.S. Army at the age of 19 years old where he served in WWIl in Europe and received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, he attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
He was employed with Eastern Air Lines in a management position and retired after 25 years of service.
He met Celine MacDonald and they were married in 1972. They were married for over 30 years until her passing in 2004.
He lived a long and successful life till his passing at age 100.
