Joyce Anne Metzger

After a 4 month battle with cancer, Joyce went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was one of four children born to the late John and Amanda Smith, and was the beloved wife of Max Metzger for 50 years. Joyce will be remembered by her sister, Treva Collier, her children Michelle and Andy White, Greg and Elizabeth Metzger and her seven grandchildren.

Joyce was born and raised in Richmond, Indiana. She graduated from Richmond High School and then completed X-ray technician schooling in Miami. She was introduced to her husband by her sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Charlotte Lowe in 1960. Max and Joyce raised their family in Miramar, Florida over 17 years. They later moved to Pembroke Pines, and finally settled in Davie, Florida.

Joyce committed her life to Jesus Christ as a young girl and carried on this commitment with her family. Throughout her childrens young lives, she took them to church every week at the First Baptist Church of West Hollywood. She loved to serve in various ways at church including Vacation Bible School and within the churchs Christian school, Hollywood Christian School where her daughter attended. She was also very involved in with the band program at Miramar High School where her son attended.

Joyce worked full-time for over 30 years as an X-ray technician at Hollywood Memorial Hospital and a local doctors office in Hollywood, Florida. She served her family with endless energy and loved to be involved in the lives of her children. She continued to serve and enjoy her seven grandchildren, ages 3 24, with this same energy and love that only a grandmother can provide. Joyce participated with great enthusiasm in any activity that her children or grandchildren were involved in.

Joyce was a true servant who will be remembered for her joyful attitude and humble spirit.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 12:00 pm at Fred Hunters Funeral Home 2401 S. University Drive, Davie, FL 33324.
