Joyce was born to George and Loryne Moffett in Rolla, Missouri on January 25, 1941. Joyce was the ninth child born. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings Billy, Betty, Dave, Shirl, Dee, Jack, and Jerry. Survived by her brother Johnny.
She was married to James E. Smith and they raised four children together, one son, Keith, and three daughters, Wendi, Myra, and Lisa. James E. preceded her in death on November 21, 1987.
Joyce worked in education as a guidance secretary where she encouraged young students with kindness and compassion. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Joyce loved Hollywood Beach and Sanibel Island, she loved shelling and sunsets. Oh, what fun she had at Walt Disney World, her laugh, her smile, a real kid again! She had a favorite table in Pinocchio's we still call "Granma's Table." Joyce had a passion for gardening, she left behind some flourishing flowering trees and plants. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence and full heart will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. When you asked Joyce to pray for you, it was as if she had a direct line to God, she prayed whole heartily and every day. Her enthusiasm for crafting was limitless. When her granddaughters were young she always had crafts for them to do which cultivated creativity in all of them. She loved to have visitors, she was so very gracious, always offering food and drink, "Can I get you anything", she wanted you comfortable and satisfied.
Joyce's children and grandchildren were her life; her love for them is immeasurable. She will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, granddaughters and family: her son Keith Moffett and granddaughters Chloe who preceded her in death, and Baileigh. Her daughter Wendi Doke and her husband William "Glenn" and granddaughter Whitli Joy her fiancé Shane Capers. Her daughter Lisa Loryne Smith. And, her daughter Myra Smith and granddaughters Amanda Ledda and her husband Christopher, and Amber Kmiec. As well as many very loved devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
