While Ken tarried here before he departed this world, he led a full, productive and meaningful life. He met Linda, the love of his life in Jamaica and followed her to the United States in the 1980’s. They later married and started their lives together in Washington, D.C. Soon after, they moved to Miami, Florida and settled there permanently.
Ken and Linda were active members of the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Miami, Florida for several years before they both became ill.
He was both a family man and an entrepreneur. Ken was the patriarch of a blended family, consisting of his daughter, Doreen and her children as well as Linda’s children and grandchildren. He worked very hard to support his wife and family, managing his own landscaping business for many years before succumbing to his battle with cancer.
Ken was dedicated to his wife and family, a straightforward, honest, thoughtful and caring human being. Ken loved his family. He was strong and courageous, and he fought a good fight up to the very end.
For leisure, Ken enjoyed an occasional visit to Calder Racetrack to see the horses. He also enjoyed spinning his 45’s on his record player as he listened to such favorites as “I don’t wanna’ wait in vain for your love” by Bob Marley, “Night Nurse” by Gregory Isaacs, “Gypsy Girl” by Tony Gregory and “The ABC’s of Love” by Frankie Lymon. He was a great cook and enjoyed baking fruit cake for the holidays, Easter bun and his famous potato puddings not only for the family but his friends as well.
Ken leaves behind his soulmate, Linda; daughter, Doreen and his grandchildren, Miniya, Ariel, and Daniel; his stepdaughter, Elaine and her children and grandchildren, his sisters Beverley, Claire and Myrna; and a host of other family, friends and neighbors to mourn his passing.
However, as children of God, although we mourn, we do not mourn as those who have no hope. Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. This world is not our home. The earth is only a temporary residence, and we are all on a temporary assignment. Ken has completed his assignment here on earth and has now returned back home to be with God.
Dearest Ken:
May your soul rest in peace and rise in power.
