

Ken was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania to Vivian (Shuttleworth) Shutika and Joseph J. Shutika on December 27, 1943 and grew up in Dagus Mines, PA. He was a 1961 graduate of St. Marys High School in St. Marys, PA where he excelled in baseball. On October 12, 1963, Ken married Dorothy Ann Wernet in Ridgway, PA. Dorothy and Ken moved to Erie, PA in 1965 where they resided until 1995 when they moved to Sunrise, FL. Ken worked as a machinist and toolmaker for various companies in Erie, PA and South Florida for over 40 years.
Ken was involved in bowling leagues for many years in Pennsylvania. He was “the kid” or the ringer that everyone wanted on their bowling teams, and at least once bowled a perfect game. He loved playing golf with his family and friends, as well as coaching his grandsons with the City of Sunrise (FL) Little League Baseball. Ken was an active participant in numerous Christian churches in Erie, PA, and for the past 28 years in Community Christian Church, Tamarac, FL. He loved his small group and Sunday school class and the friendships made there.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents Vivian and Joseph Shutika, as well as his daughter Beth Ann Shutika Sibio.
Ken is survived by his loving spouse Dorothy Ann Shutika; his son Kenneth M. Shutika (Debra), his daughter Sharon L. Edelman (Brad), his daughter Jill M. Mintsiveris (Dana); seven grandchildren, Zachary Edelman, Joshua Edelman, Samuel Edelman (Nicole Hedges), John Shutika, Helen (Shutika) Kobayashi (Nathan), Sophia Mintsiveris, and Alexander Sibio; one great-grandchild, Kenneth Kobayashi; one sister Evelyn Ann Piccolo (Joseph) and one brother Michael Shutika (Debbie); one uncle Bruce Shuttleworth; and son-in-law Stephen Sibio.
Visitation will be held at the Community Christian Church, Tamarac, FL from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 17 and from 11:30 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, November 18, 2023. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Community Christian Church in Tamarac, FL. A private Christian burial will immediately follow the service at Bailey Memorial Gardens, North Lauderdale, FL. Funeral arrangements are made by Fred Hunter’s Funeral Service.
Ken’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Broward Health Coral Springs CCU/ICU. The nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors and all who showed love, care and expertise to our sweet husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather – we are truly so appreciative.
