It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of K.P Mohanan Menon, aged 76. Fondly known as "Mohan" in the Indian community, Mohan passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at home in Sunrise, Florida. He was surrounded by his immediate family in his final moments.
Mohan, the oldest of five siblings, was born on February 25, 1948 to parents late Pokkancheri Krishna Menoky and late Karumathil Pokkavil Leelavathy of Kozhikode, Kerala, India.
Those who knew Mohan know of his love for music, laughter, and learning. You would find him singing along to Mohammad Rafi or whistling the tune of a classic Hindi song. His laughter would fill a room with joy and he could never turn down the opportunity to tell a good joke. But most of all, his desire to keep learning and imparting that knowledge to others was his driving force. He was an educator at heart and had the impossible ability to make any subject exciting to learn. His legacy will live on through the successes of the countless children he helped throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Rajalakshmi "Raji," daughters Sheeba and Seema, son-in-laws Prashant Sreedharan and Vijay Pillai, grandchildren Varsha and Vikas, and his siblings Valsala Sukumaran, Haridas Menon, Nirmala Agarwal, and Shyamala Vijayakumar as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
A service to celebrate Mohan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home at 6301 Taft Street in Hollywood, FL. Viewing services will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by cremation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Refreshments will be served throughout the service at Fred Hunter's Community Center from 12:30PM to 2:30PM.
