Born 1932 in North Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of Carl R. Mitchell Sr. and Gertrude (Manchester) Mitchell.
Rena passed on January 19, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, Hollywood, Florida surrounded by her loving husband John and all of her eight children and grandchildren by her side. Her and John celebrated 64 years of marriage and lived in Rhode Island and Massapequa Park, Long Island, NY and for the past 25 years Dania Beach, Florida . Rena retired from her career 25 years ago at Mid Island Hospital in Long Island, NY and was working part time as a model for the Enrite industry as a wig model.
Rena was a loving mother to her eight children, and a special Grandma and "Mama" to her 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling the world, foreign movies, visiting the local library, and most importantly celebrating her life with her family and friends.
Preceeded in death by parents, both brothers George Mitchell of Mobile , Alabama and Carl R. Mitchell Jr. of Seekonk, MA. Survivied by sister Bernice Baer of Rehoboth, MA.
The funeral service will be held Sunday 11-1 at Fred Hunter Chapel at 2401 S. University Drive, Davie Fl.
