Lester E. McKinney

Born in Montville, Connecticut on November 27, 1932, son of Horace L. and Blanche (Skinner) McKinney. Raised in Montville, Lester graduated from New York School of Printing in Manhattan. Following his training he enlisted with the United States National Guard of Florida and Oklahoma.

Lester met his future wife, Sharon Rose Bay in April of 1956 at a skating rink in Oklahoma City. He was the skating instructor and Sharon had come to the rink with friends. They were married June 13, 1957, in Miami. Lester (Mac) retired from the Miami Herald in 1995 following 44 years working as a Printer Plate Maker.

Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sharon (Bay) McKinney, their children, Raymond (Karen) McKinney, Timothy (Laurie) McKinney, Michael (Leeann) McKinney, Bonnie (Charles) Orlando and Sherrie (David) Nemetz, his (19) Grandchildren, Zachary McKinney, Ashlie Rolfe, Samantha (Derek) Rogers, Ryan (Amy) McKinney, Brandon (Bobbie Jo) Birge, Amanda Boinott, Amanda and Megan Thompson, Jodi (Kelly) McDonald, Matthew Orlando, Kristina (Cameron) Higgins, Michael, Bryan and Nicholas Nemetz, his (9) Great Grandchildren are Dominic, Austin, Autumn, April, Summer, Brandon Jr., Khristian, Kambree, and Camdyn. Lester was predeceased in death by his oldest grandson, C.J. Orlando on December 10, 2004.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 29th from 5:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. Funeral service at the funeral home will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Robert Sands officiating. Interment will be private.
