Limbouth Norine Gurley

Limbouth Featherson Gurley, formerly of Caruthersville, passed away at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law on May 1 st, 2015 at the age of 88. Her memorial service will be held at 1PM on May 23rd at the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service. Her ashes will be interned with her beloved husband at Woodland Cemetery in Hayti, Missouri following her service.

She was born January 11, 1927 in Gibson County Tennessee to Euell and Lucy (Holman) Featherson. The family moved to Pemiscot County in 1933. Limbouth graduated from Caruthersville High School in 1946. She was wed to E.C. Gurley, Jr. on September 18, 1947. He preceded her in death at the age of 58 on April 15, 1985. Both of her siblings also preceded her in death. Joann Featherson Jordan passed in June 2006 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi at the age of 67, and James Harry Featherston passed in February 2004 in Boyle, Mississippi at the age of 86. Her son-in-law, Gary Don Wainscott passed in July 2001 in Naples, Florida at the age of 55.

Limbouth was an administrative secretary with Pemiscot schools for 26 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, the Caruthersville Business and Professional Women's Club, the Hayti Garden Club, the Bootheel Area Association of Retired Teachers, SEMO Club, and a Pemiscot County 4-H leader for many years. Limbouth was honored in 2011 as an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women of the Church (USA) for her commitment to Christ and service by the Caruthersville Presbyterian Women of the Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carol Gurley Wainscott Ritchie and husband Dennis Ritchie of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. Two grandchildren; Donna Wainscott Lucarelli and her husband Jack, and Derek Wainscott of Naples, FL. Three great-grandchildren; Jackson, Abby, and Olivia Lucarelli. Nine nieces; Jonnie Featherston Poynor, Tanya Jordan McKelvey, Teresa Jordan Nunenmacher, Paula Gurley Cnikel, Vickie Gurley Porter, Janet Gurley Middleton, Yvette Gurley Smith, Shirley Greenwell King, Sharon Greenwell Gurley. 11 Nephews; James Ed Gurley, Gary Gurley, Ken Gurley, Joe Gurley, Steve Gurley, Ron Howell, Joe Greenwell, Dennis Gurley, Keith Gurley, Tom Gurley, and Rick Gurley. Mrs. Bill Gurley (Mary Carolyn) of Caruthersville is the last survivor from Limbouth's generation of the Gurley family.
