

On March 31, 1944, Mrs. Linda Ruth Terry Vickers was born to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie “Hump” Terry, Sr, and the late Mrs. Annie Clara (Bell) Ellis Terry in Sumter County, Georgia. She was one of nine children with six siblings preceding her in death: Mr. Charlie Terry, Jr., Mr. Walter Terry, Sr., Mrs. Carolyn Terry Dice, Mr. Randolph Terry, Mrs. Annie Williams, and Mr. Johnny Terry, Sr.
Linda was educated in the Sumter County School System, where she excelled in girls’ basketball as an avid starter and exemplary and outstanding player. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Oak Grove Huntington Church in Sumter County, Georgia. After graduating high school, she relocated to Miami, Florida where she reconnected her faith with the Mt, Herman AME Church. In 1966, she met and married the love of her life, Mr. David Vickers and until death they remained as one. She was employed with the United States Postal Services for 36 years before retiring. Linda was very dedicated and committed in all aspects of life. She loved her family with her whole heart and she loved the Lord. The life she lived really spoke for her.
On Tuesday, February 07, 2023, the Lord called his precious child home and she answered. Our beloved slipped away quietly, for she knew to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Her legacy of love will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, David Vickers, Miramar, Fla. Her sister and brother, Shirley Terry and Simmuel Terry of Americus, Ga. Her nephew Travis Terry, Americus, Ga and her niece Jennifer Terry, Atlanta, Ga, who she helped reared. She is also survived by one granddaughter Felicia King and one great granddaughter Angel King of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her sisters-in-law Evelyn Terry, Americus, Ga, Elenora Terry, Miami, Fla, Pearlean (Spencer) Edwards, Miramar, Fla, Doris Brown, Cochran, Ga and Barbara Terry, Atlanta, Ga. A host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends survive.
