

Linwood August Fritz died peacefully in Fort Lauderdale on May 18th as a result of an earlier car accident. He was born February 8, 1935 in Northville, Michigan, the son of the late Ambrose and Lillian Fritz.
He is survived by his sister, Josephine Ann Childers of Clinton Twp., MI. His nieces & nephews, Jerry (Debbie) Ash, Kris Mobarak, Susan Barbee, Michael Pluchuch, Eileen (Mel) Piehl, Leonard Fritz, Jean Fritz, Carol Honsinger, Jeff Honsinger, Steve Honsinger, Marie Loney and many great and great great- grand nieces and nephews.
Linwood was preceded by his siblings: Theda Lyke., Lillian Ash, Mildred Honsigner, Lawrence, Harold and Leonard Fritz.
He was a graduate of Northville High School and Michigan State. He was been a resident of South Florida for over 50 years.
He joined MetroMedia Cellular in 1985 which eventually became part of ATT and retired in 2003.
He filled his retirement life with travel to Europe, Asia, Africa to name a few. He was civil rights advocate. Lin was the Finance Director for his homeowners association.
Most importantly, Linwood was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 48 years. He was instrumental in starting many meetings and mentoring countless people. He participated in various organizations including Broward Intergroup, Lambda South, Florida Round up and the State Convention. He was eternally grateful for this gift and worked hard to keep it. He leaves a void in the life of many friends in the program.
Linwood’s Memorial Service will be at 1pm on May 30th at the Fred Hunter’s Fort Lauderdale Funeral Home. Due to the COVID 19, only a small group can be present but it will be live streamed
