Lumas R. Maraj

Lumas Rambahal Maraj, affectionately called Joe, beloved father, grandfather, and brother drew his last breath on September 19th, 2022, while he was surrounded in the love of his immediate family. He had battled a little over a months’ time with illness. He is survived by his children, Sunil (Vidette), Christopher, and Tamara (Nicholas). He is a beloved grandpa to his granddaughters Zara and Talia, and an endeared brother to Tara Maraj and Josh Maraj.   He remained a cherished and close friend to his former wife Nellina Maraj.

Joe was born in Cunupia, Trinidad on February 11th, 1943. He spent his early life in Trinidad and moved to New York City to pursue his education. He received his Associates from Bronx Community College. He married and started a family in NYC and later moved to Florida to raise his family. He was a man of great sacrifice, who worked hard to provide, and a man of many kind actions.

Joe worked as a Production Line Manager for Coca Cola for 26 years. During his spare time, he enjoyed watching detective drama TV shows. He also enjoyed building and fixing things and was very handy and crafty with woodwork and any type of home improvements.  Joe helped many people turn their houses into homes, he was always wanting to lend a helping hand. He was retired, 79 years old and lived in Tamarac, FL.

We are deeply saddened by his passing, and we are reminded that he will be reunited with those who are predeceased to him. His parents, his brothers and sisters:

His father Pundit Rambahal Mahraj, mother Rookmin Maraj, his oldest sister Basdaye Ramnath followed by his sister Samdaye Narinesingh, brother Pundit Basdeo Maraj and younger sisters Siewdaye Chanardip and Bissondaye Ramnath. 

Joe will be greatly missed, and he will live in our hearts forever.
