MARC LEONARD KAUFMAN, a man whose laughter and adventurous spirit were as boundless as the ocean he loved to surf. He passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on April 12, 1958, in Carol City, Florida, Marc's zest for life was evident in his earliest days. He departed this world in Hollywood, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and an unquenchable passion for life.
Marc is survived by Noella Kaufman, his cherished daughters Marissa (Tristan) and Alexa Kaufman, and his adored grandchildren Caden, Lainey, and baby Petrone. His memory will also be treasured by his sisters Melodye Kaufman (JT) and Marcha Schaetzle (Eric), his nieces and nephew Erica, Jessica, and Joshua Schaetzle, and his great-nieces and nephews, who will miss his playful teasing and warm embraces.
For over four decades, Marc served his community as a dedicated Postal Carrier, a role that allowed him to connect with countless individuals, sharing stories and smiles along his route. His commitment to service was matched only by his prowess on the baseball and football fields, where he was recognized as an award-winning player. Marc's love for sports was a thread that ran through his entire life, as he remained a devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Marlins, and the University of Miami. Even in his fandom, Marc's love for his family shone through, as he would cheer for the Florida State Seminoles in support of his daughter Alexa.
A man of Christian faith, Marc lived by the words of Saint Augustine, "Our hearts are restless until they rest in you." We like to think Dad’s heart is finally at peace- maybe with a cold beer in hand, a game on the TV, and his beloved pets curled up by his side.
Marc's interests were as diverse as they were intense. He was an avid surfer, snow skier, jet skier, and bodybuilder. His musical talents were expressed through the harmonica and drums, and he found solace in the rhythms of rock n' roll and the blues, sharing his love for the Allman Brothers and Jethro Tull with his grandson Caden. Marc's presence was a force of nature, his humor infectious, and his stories captivating. He loved to travel, embracing every moment with a sense of wonder and excitement.
As we bid farewell to Marc Leonard Kaufman, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, adventure, and an interesting tale at every turn. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him- through every wave caught, every rock n’ roll song turned up loud, every Sunday football game, and every moment we choose laughter over everything else. Marc's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the memories he created will forever dance in the hearts of his loved ones like the sun's reflection on the ocean he so dearly loved.
