Marcel was born on December 27, 1992, in Hollywood, Florida, to Alfonso Carter and Debra A. Singleton. He attended Lake Forest Elementary School, Perry Middle School, and Miramar High School. Marcel was self-employed and worked with Super Dank Brothers for seven years.
Marcel was a truly special person whose infectious smile could light up any room. He had a pure and genuine spirit and brought positive energy wherever he went. Loving, kind, and generous, Marcel was always willing to help others and never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need.
He had a big heart and an unforgettable sense of humor. Known as the joker, Marcel had a gift for bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His outgoing personality made people feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved. His presence had a way of making moments brighter, and the warmth he shared with others will never be forgotten.
Above all else, Marcel’s children were his heart and his greatest source of love and pride. He was the proud father of his daughters, Laelani, Lauren, Simaya, Kyla, and A’moura, and his son, Kash. The love he had for his children was undeniable, and the bond they shared will forever remain one of the most beautiful and meaningful parts of his legacy.
Marcel was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Marcel A. Quesnel, Guy Anthony Gangi Sr., and William James Carter, affectionately known as “Big Daddy”; his great-grandmother, Carmen Quesnel; his grandmother, Gwendolyn Shopshire; his uncle, Sunny Johnson; his aunt, Sandra Dee Carter, affectionately known as “Auntie Dee Dee”; and his cousins, Gregory Carter and Ricky Gangi.
Marcel leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Laelani, Lauren, Simaya, Kyla, A’moura, and Kash; his parents, Debra A. Singleton and Alfonso Carter; his brothers, William Carter, Kennith Singleton, and Ronell Gillins; his sisters, Cyntina Carter and Tennille Gillins; his grandparents, Yvette Gangi and Gwendolyn O. Carter; his niece, Sage M. Carter; and his nephews, William James Carter Jr. and Maximilian S. Carter.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Guy Anthony Gangi Jr., Paul and Lisa Deitz, Rosa Gangi, and Crystal Carter; his cousins, Kristopher, Michael, Jackie Deitz, and Guy Anthony Gangi III; his second cousins, Braydin, Lincoln, Wyatt, Asher Deitz, Guy, Anthony, Dezanaya, and Emily Gangi; along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by Marcel.
Marcel leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves a legacy of laughter, love, kindness, generosity, and joy. He leaves the lasting impression of a man whose smile could brighten a room, whose humor could lift a spirit, and whose heart always had room for others.
Though his time here was far too short, the love Marcel shared—especially the love he poured into his children—will continue through them. His smile, his laughter, his spirit, and the countless moments shared with those who loved him will remain forever in their hearts.
The family of Marcel Carter wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Nicholas Petrillo, Hydralife Water Services, Sebastian Hernandez of The Groves Coffee House, Ralph Archer, and all the boys for their kindness, love, and support.
