Maria "Geña" Eugenia Martinez, aged 93, originally from Santurce, Puerto Rico, passed away on April 7, 2024, in Miami, Florida. Maria was born on September 25, 1930. She was a loving, generous, and wise individual who touched the lives of many.
During her career, Maria worked for NY State Housing in New York City as a clerk for 25 years, where she dedicated herself to not only giving her best in her duties but ensuring her co-workers had everything they needed. Her caring and nurturing nature extended beyond the workplace.
Maria, known as "La Bailadora" at Century Village, where she resided with her daughter for 10 years, had a passion for dancing. She also enjoyed playfighting with her two-year-old great-granddaughter in a loving manner.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Sierra, and son-in-law, Mario Marrero; son, Jorge Luis Sierra, and daughter-in-law, Mildred Sierra; son James Williams and his spouse; sisters, Isabel Pineda DeJesus and Alicia Pineda DeJesus; grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many more family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jaime W. Martinez, whom she married in 1958.
The family will be receiving guests at Fred Hunter Hollywood in Hollywood, FL, to honor and celebrate Maria's life.
