Marie Edith Fourcand, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of the family she devoted her life to.
Marie was born on March 31, 1935, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1967, she immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities for her family. She settled in Brooklyn, New York, where she built a life defined by hard work, determination, faith, and unwavering devotion to her children.
A proud and dedicated single mother of five, Marie worked tirelessly to provide for her family. For more than 25 years, she was a valued employee at the Park Lane Hotel, where her strong work ethic and commitment earned the respect of those around her. Despite working full-time, she always made sure her children came first. No matter how tired she was after a long day, she prepared a homemade meal every evening, ensured her children received the best education possible, and made certain they never lacked for anything. Her love, sacrifices, and dedication created a foundation that continues to support her family today.
Marie was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She found joy in simple pleasures, including Sudoku and word puzzles, and she loved cooking for her family. She was adventurous by nature and always ready for her next trip, embracing opportunities to travel and experience new places. Her strength, independence, and wonderful sense of humor were among her defining qualities, and she passed those gifts on to her children and grandchildren.
Above all, Marie was an incredible mother. She made time for her children regardless of the demands of work and life, offering unconditional love, guidance, encouragement, and laughter. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Marie was preceded in death by two beloved children, Willerme Fourcand and Marie Edith Maloku.
She is survived by her loving children, Joelle Fanfan, Edwige Fourcand, and Ingrid Bernard; her ten cherished grandchildren; her precious great-grandchild; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her presence, wisdom, and love.
Marie leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, sacrifice, and devotion. She demonstrated what it means to persevere through challenges with grace and dignity while never losing her sense of humor or her love for life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and in the generations of family she nurtured and inspired.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love remains a lasting gift. She will be remembered always and missed forever.
May she rest in eternal peace.
