Marie Ivane Joseph, fondly known as "Mommilot," led a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and faith. Born on April 26, 1928, in the Debas section of Aquin, Haiti, to Ipomene Georges and Delius Lindor, she became a cherished member of the Joseph family. Mommilot married her beloved husband, Duceus “Papilot”, on June 26, 1953, and together they shared 70 years of marriage.
Her devotion to Jehovah was a central aspect of her life, as she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1957. Mommilot and Papilot were blessed with six children, and she worked tirelessly as a dressmaker to provide for their family. Her commitment to family extended beyond her immediate kin, as she migrated to the United States in 1987 to support her grandchildren after the passing of her son-in-law.
Mommilot was not only a dedicated wife and mother but also a beloved matriarch to the Joseph family. Her love for people was evident in her caring nature, as she often took care of not only her grandchildren but also the children of friends. She had a special way of expressing her affection, creating endearing pet names for everyone.
Throughout her life, Mommilot remained steadfast in her faith, faithfully preaching and teaching as a pioneer until she was no longer able to work the territory. Even as her mobility declined, she continued to spread love in the form of treats, ensuring friends in the congregation received gifts like mangoes and avocados.
Survived by her loving husband, Duceus Joseph, her children Jude (predeceased), Ghislaine (Emile; predeceased), Josue (Yolette Carmen), Jean Claude (Marie Josie), Jumline (Lionel; predeceased), Jean Robert (Yvetha Magda), her grandchildren, Jennifer (Lamont), Emile Jr., Claudelle (Marc), Quetna, Cassandra (predeceased), Jonathan (Alexis), Abigail (Sol), Markenly, Claudine, Othniel (Gabrielle), Judith, Jessica, Stanley, Judeline (Stewart), Joanne, Nathaniel (predeceased), Brianna, Ashley, Fritz, Christophora (Ezekiel), Jaime, Francesca, Charlette, Rebecca and many loving great-grandchildren, family, and special friends. Mommilot's legacy is one of love, faith, and selflessness. Those who knew her eagerly anticipate the day they can be reunited with her in Jehovah's new world.
