Mario A. Sarmento of Plantation died on May 3. He is survived by his wife, Adaberta, and his two children, Mario and Ada. He was born in Madalena on Pico Island, in the Azores, off the coast of Portugal. He came to the U.S. in 1975, and was a proud American. He was a wonderful father and husband, and a lover of the sea, fishing and sailing. Mario was also a huge soccer fan, and a follower of the Benfica club and the Portuguese national team. He was a Picaroto (Portuguese through and through), and he will be greatly missed. His service will be at Fred Hunters in Davie.
