Mary Ruth Almyda Karanicas

Mary was born in Miami on February 10, 1938. She married George Karanicas on February, 14, 1972 in Hialeah. Before retirement, Mary was an owner of MaGrundy’s lounge in Miami for over 25 years. She was a committed and accomplished bowler, enjoyed her passion for designing and sewing, was a certified people person who loved spending time with her friends and family, and took pleasure in self care.

Mary is survived by: her husband George Karanicas; her children Mark Moral, Craig Streetzel II, Donna Streetzel Grimes, Teri Smith, and step daughters Crissy Sanchez and Ruth Amos; her brother Carlyle Almyda Jr, and her sister Alvia Wetzel; her 10 grandchildren (Kirk, Mark, Debbie, Joey, Craig, Jordan, Jamey, Christopher, Brandi, and Mary); Mary was blessed to have a growing group of great, and great-great-grandchildren, as well.

Visitation will be 10am, Monday March 23 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, with funeral services held at 11am. Rev. Dr. Frank Marangos of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation will officiate, followed by entombment at Fred Hunter Memorial Gardens.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Miami after 1pm the same day.

Mary’s family wishes to extend our love to her dearest friends (of which she had an abundance; she cared for you all), bowling league members, supportive doctors, and neighbors.
