On Monday, October 5, 2020, Matthew Shane O’Neal, loving husband and devoted father, passed away at the age of 37.Matthew was born on January 26, 1983 in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He attended Saint Anthony Catholic School and Cardinal Gibbons High School and then went on to attend University of North Florida. On May 9, 2019, he married Layla. They had one son together, Connor Patrick.Matthew loved sports and was on many sports teams growing up in Fort Lauderdale. He was an avid golfer and took so much joy in teaching his son Connor how to play. He was a huge New England Patriots fan and loved the Boston Red Sox too. But most of all, Matthew loved being with his family. From trips to the Keys to coordinating Halloween costumes, creating special memories together was always a top priority for him and what he cherished most.Matthew was preceded in death by his grandmother Ann O’Neal. He is survived by his wife Layla, his son Connor, his parents Pat and Gayann O’Neal, his sisters Corey Thiel, Shannon Roth, Shawn Fortner, and his brothers Patrick, Timothy, and Keith, and many nieces and nephews.
