

Mayme Lou (Pee Wee) Holman Griffin, of Davie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away at home with her family by her side on August 11, 2016. A proud native Floridian, Mayme was born in Fort Lauderdale on January 19, 1928. A graduate of Fort Lauderdale High, she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Howard A. Griffin, Sr., on June 30, 1948. They spent 74 years together and raised four children, Andy, Fred, John and Becky. The family spent 12 years in Clewiston, running a farm for Griffin Brothers Co., Inc., before Howard and Mayme returned to Davie in 1975.
Mayme adored her family and her joy touched the lives of countless people. She was famous for her generosity and loving spirit. Mayme was an active volunteer in her community and for Florida Farm Bureau. In June she happily hosted her mother's family's 85th Carson Family Reunion.
Mayme is survived by her husband Howard; their children Andy (Marcelyn), John (Belinda), and Becky (Anette); long-time dear friend Susan (Paul); grandchildren Shannon, Alison, Leah, Anderson, Amy, Carson, Harry John and William; 7 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends. She is preceded in death by her son Fred; sisters Claudia, Milly, Marie, Frankie and Sara; and brother Raymond.
Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army, who provided Mayme's first childhood Christmas gift.
