Naresh was born January 10, 1938 and was raised in India. He is survived by his loving wife Sushma (Sue) Chhabra. They were married June 8, 1969.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, and one sister.
Naresh is also survived by children, Vincent Chhabra, Sabina Faruqui, and Anjali Chhabra-Mourani; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Giovanni,Sara, Shan, and Leo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Naresh worked as a Civil Engineer for the State of Ohio for 25 years before retiring. He was also a very savvy and wise investor in several business ventures, including a chain of drugstores, medical weight loss centers and apartment complexes. His favorite venture was the launch of Bombay Grille restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. Naresh was the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Food Taster.
Naresh and his family relocated to Weston, Florida in 2001. He loved his home, his neighbors and most of all, he loved his walks. Prior to his stroke in 2005, Naresh would run five miles every day. After recovering from his stroke, he never stopped physical activity. He substituted running for walking. He loved to do laps around Provence Circle twice a day, every day. No amount of rain would prevent him from his daily regiment. Sadly, last Saturday, he took his last walk.
We are all going to deeply miss Naresh. He was an amazing friend, father, husband and inspirational human being. He is a true example of a hero in so many ways.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Fred Hunter's Funeral Home. Friends may visit him from 11 am to noon, at which time a Hindu Funeral Ceremony will be held for one hour.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Teach For America Foundation (https://www.teachforamerica.org/donate).
