Nellie was born in Nassau, Bahamas to Carl and Florenia Sawyer (Albury) on November 5, 1941. She worked as a Human Resources Manager for many years and then in the outpatient department of Memorial Hospital. She was involved in her Methodist church for several years as a youth counselor, choir member and cherub choir director.
Nellie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Thaddeus Johnson Sr. and her devoted son Thaddeus Johnson, Jr.
Nellie is survived by her daughter Tonya Johnson Draughon, son-in-law William Draughon, grandson Tyler Draughon and brother Burnice Sands Sawyer and sister-in-law Beth Sawyer (Lowe).
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 3:30 pm Friday July 26th at Fred Hunter Funeral Home with reception following from 4:30 to 6:30.
