

Norma Kennedy Edwards (nee Buchanan), passed from this life on May 2, 2023. Born on September 14, 1943, in Richmond, St. Mary, Jamaica to the late Charles Buchanan and Theresa Green, she was one of eleven children. Norma came into this world with her sibling partner as a twin and her partner passed at birth.
Norma attended Zion Hill Primary school. She, then, decided she wanted to be a dress designer. In 1964, she went to Canada at the invitation of her sister. During that time, she made a career change deciding on being a secretary and used her 6 months stay to lay the foundations of future work endeavors. Upon her return to Jamaica, she completed her post-secondary education by attending a private commercial school for clerical and secretarial skills. When completed, Norma worked for the Banana Boards division of the Agriculture and Land Ministry.
As a young woman, Norma met and married Desmond Kennedy. She moved to the United States of America to further her pursuit in clerical work. While in New York, she worked for Price Waterhouse. In 1983, Norma relocated to Miami, Florida to join her sisters and where she worked for Southwest Bank and later Bank of America. Desiring another career change, Norma furthered her post-secondary education as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She committed herself to the service in the medical and health field for 30 years, after which she retired. Later in life, Norma met and married Nathan Edwards. She shared many years of marriage before being widowed.
Outside of her professional life, Norma enjoyed spending time with her family, and attended church as a member of the Hollywood Community Church in Hollywood, FL.
