Omar Andre Lyon, 67, of Pembroke Pines, FL, passed away on June 3, 2020. Omar, lovingly called Andre, was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica on May 12, 1953. He attended Wolmers High School and continued on to receive an Associates of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College from which he got a scholarship to attend Florida International University. Andre and his spouse, Hazel have been together lovingly for 47 years. Andre worked at several companies; Jamaica Telephone Company as a draftsman in their Engineering Department, Miami Dade County as the first black inspector in their Public Works Mosquito Control Division, Miami Shores City as a Code Enforcement Officer, and self-employed as an architect, to name a few. He enjoyed soccer, music, loved animals and in recent years he was an avid blogger in Jamaica Observer Online Newspaper. Andre is survived by his spouse, Hazel, his son, Andre Christopher, his granddaughter, Marley, sisters, Roni and Andrea, brothers, Billy and Damien, nieces and nephew, and other family and friends. Andre is preceded in death by mother, Aileen and father, Ronald Lyon.
