Paul Lester Helmus

Paul Lester Helmus, 48, of Cooper City Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 9, 2017. He was born in Rockville Centre, NY on March 27, 1969 to James and Veronica Helmus. Paul attended Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, NY, and graduated in 1987. He moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to attend Palm Beach Community College and earned an Associate's Degree. He began working for the Montreal Expos in the late 1980's as the Minor League Equipment Manager. In the late 1990's Paul went to work for Gold Coast Distributors and eventually ended up with Heineken USA as a Retail Sales Manager. It was a position that he held for more than fifteen years. He also worked for a brief time with Hard Rock Energy, and was employed by Anheuser-Busch at the time of his death.

Paul will always be remembered for his kindness and gentle spirit, and his incredible sense of humor. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his friends and was known for his love of the NY Islanders, Dallas Cowboys, Family Guy and NCIS, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Toby Keith and Jimmy Buffett music.

Paul is survived by his two loving sons, Navaar William Helmus and Peter James Helmus, cherished grandchildren Lilly Alana and Ethan James Helmus; sisters Lynda Helmus, Suzanne Helmus, and Julie Koppas; brother James Helmus; brother-in-law Timothy Koppas, and sister-in-law Kristin Sansone. He is also survived by his adored niece and nephews; Timothy Koppas, Meghan Koppas and James Helmus III.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, James and Veronica Helmus; his daughter Shannon Kay Helmus, and his brother Peter John Helmus.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of his life, on Monday, September 18, 2017, family will receive friends from 11:00 a, to 1:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 1:00 pm. Cremation is private. Fred Hunters Funeral Home is in charge of Arrangements.
