

Raul Arturo Sanchez passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the age of 77. He is survived by his children Rodney, Raoul (Lito), and Amy Sanchez, his grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Kyle, Alyssa, and Ashley, and his siblings Rafaela and Jose. He is the former husband of Virginia Sanchez and Deborah Kondelik.
Raul was born in Santiago de Cuba on July 24, 1935 to Juan Loreto and Consuelo Sanchez, the youngest of 6 children. He entered the United States on March 9, 1958, and joined the Army shortly thereafter. He served in the military for 6 years. He settled in South Florida in 1970.
He worked for the State of Florida Public Defender's Office in Miami as a Criminal Investigator and retired in 2003 after 25 years of faithful service. He was best known for his achievements in martial arts. Upon his death, he achieved the highest rank of 10th degree black belt in his martial arts system Okinawan Shuri Ryu. He enjoyed working out regularly, and shooting was his passion. In his spare time, he was an avid movie watcher and enjoyed tinkering with the latest electronics. He was a dedicated father and grandfather. He was a mentor to family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
The Sanchez family will greet family and friends at Fred Hunter's Davie Funeral Home, 2401 South University Drive in Davie, on Saturday, March 23, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A celebration of his life will commence at 3:30 PM with Reverend Azar Ali officiating.
