Richard Alan Jones passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65 on June 5, 2021, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Richard was born on October 8, 1955, in Miami, Florida to parents Alan Ericson Jones and Edna May Larson. He enjoyed his childhood in Miami with his parents, brothers, uncle, aunt, and cousins. After graduating from North Miami Senior High School in 1973, he continued his education at Princeton, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Engineering in 1977. He met his wife, Sonia, while working together at Cordis Corp and they were married in 1984 leading to 37 years of partnership in life and love. He was a loving dad to his three children and he made it a priority to instill a sense of adventure in them through travel, both domestic and abroad.
He had many roles in his life, including Quality Assurance Engineer in the Medical Device industry, Stay-at-Home Dad, and Entrepreneur and Wine Connoisseur as Rich’s Wine Cellar owner in Miami Lakes. Through it all, he was a master of dry wit, reader of all books, knower of all things, historian and family genealogist, music enthusiast, pianist, and a humble friend and family member who was always there when needed. He was proud of his ancestry and the knowledge of life that he picked up along the way, and was eager to share what he knew with anyone who would listen.
Richard will be missed by those surviving him, including his wife Sonia; children Veronica Muvdi, Laura Wenger, and Eric Jones; sons-in-law Zaid Muvdi and Patrick Wenger; daughter-in-law Caitlin Jones; grandchildren Silas, Liliana, Elena, Esmé, and Logan; brothers Steven and Peter; sisters-in-law Betty, Elizabeth, and Rosa and their families; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.
