

Born in Charleston, WV to Walter F. and Miriam C. Kirk, he was a life-long resident of Fort Lauderdale,who taught at Fort Lauderdale High School for 30 years where he also coached football, swimming, track and tennis; Richard attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church, was a former member of Lauderdale Yacht Club, and the "Silver Sixties" Association.
A 1966 graduate of the University of Florida, he will always be remembered for his 65-yard TD run against Alabama in Tuscaloosa beating Alabama 7-3.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Marie; mother , Miriam C. Kirk; sisters , Anne K. Taylor of Virginia Bch, VA; Sandra K Hughes of Newport News, VA; Emmy Lou K. Parks of Natural Bridge, VA; 6 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law , Susan Childs of Birmingham, AL; Anne Frechett of Pensacola, and Peggy Woolver of Pensacola.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 South Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale from 6-8 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 19, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 901 N.E. 2nd St., Fort Lauderdale at 11:30 A.M. with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
