FLHS '78 I remember a man who was very passionate coach on the football field who gave his all to make us all better young men. Thanks coach. Being that he was a Gator is icing on the cake. Rest in peace.

UF teammate and longtime friend. Dick was a good football player for sure, but he also had a great sense of humor. At an annual event held by Bill Gaisford, called the Eatoffs, Dick won the championship for most food consumed over a three day period so many times we had to retire the trophy in his name. No human could eat more barbecue than Dick Kirk in his prime. Lots of laughter and good times to remember.

Although he was not my coach when I was on the swim team at FLHS, I remember him now as a good neighbor, who always wanted to chat when he was walking his dog "Gracie". May he RIP. He was too young to die.

Had not seen Dick since we were PDT frat brothers at UF.A wonderful guy, and of course I remember taking to the streets in wild celebration after "the run." Much saddened by his passing.

Coach one of the many that influenced my life and molded me as a man! Rest in peace coach Thanks for the memories!!

Dick was a lifelong friend from 7th grade Sunrise to FLHS and U of F. I have had a peculiar way of remembering Dick. As a teammate, in the South Broward Game, Dick knocked out my front tooth as he ran over me. The cap to this day looks much better than a natural tooth, so for that my friend Ricardo, I thank you. It's been mentioned your nickname, "Cuda Kirk" and it was well known that's what you would catch, so I say with great sadness, keep your lines tight and show the Lord what a Cuda looks like.RIP My Friend

I will always remember Coach Maltby asking my track coach, Ty smith in 1960, to run 220's with with Dick to help him improve his speed an stamina...fond memories at FLHS and later at U.of F. We will all miss his infectious smile.

FLHS '79It was always a treat having Coach as a substitute. But what I remember most is Drivers Ed. One of the Rules Of The Road was "Get The Big Picture". That rule, taught by Coach Kirk, went way beyond driving a car and lasted long after school ended.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in Isaiah 25:8 were it says death will be no more and tears will be wiped away from all faces

Coach was DB coach during our memorable run '72-'75. Tough, fun guy we all respected, or else! Don't want to see anyone go from that team. Bodies will fall, but memories will live on forever. RIP Coach.

Dick was a funny guy who loved to compete. He is a member of that group of plays who gave Coach Graves perhaps his best years. His great moment was helping to bring home the Florida victory against Alabama. That is a pretty good roar of the crowd to carry around in your head.

As a Fellow Flying "L" and Gator teammate we shared more than just the same #25. Irreplaceable are the lifetime of memories and laughter. From you fellow fishing mates we would remind you "Cuda" to keep those lines tight and from your Eatoff family, you will always be known as "The Champ". Now that your upstairs in the Coaches Booth keep those play diagrams handy so we may go over again someday.  Travel Well my friend

Loved his Gator teammates. I played in the secondary with him. Tough hard nosed skilled athlete. " MIGHTY" and " MIDGET" were his nicknames. Had a chance to talk to him a few weeks ago. May God Bless all the family. I would come to his funeral but I have a family wedding in Alabama this weekend. Bless you all.

Coach teacher friend.....I recall the cocktail parties at our family home with the "guys" from FLHS, Good food good drink, good laughs and good times. May the memories last forever.

I had the pleasure of working with "Coach" at FLHS and during that time was able to call him a mentor and friend. Many great memories involving him. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He touched so many lives. RIP, Coach.

The death of a loved one is one of the most difficult things we must face in this life. It leaves with its passing a sense of great grief, question unanswered. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss and understand what you are going through? In the Bible, God tells us that he is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. He also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. In John 5: 28, 29 God says: there will be a resurrection, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out".... also Revelation 21:3, 4, gives us a wonderful hope, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Acts 24: 15, is also a text with hope that someday we can see our loved ones again. We need not fear anymore, God has promise in Isaiah 25:8 that he will swallow up death forever" what great joy to be able to live forever without the fear of losing our loved ones again. May this give you a sense of peace, and hope.

My sincere condolences to Coach Kirk's family. So sorry for your loss. I remember Coach well as he was my driver's ed instructor at FLHS. Fond memories at FLHS!

Coach to Whatley... What is your assignment son? uuuhh outside LB sir? Then why aren't your doing it? He made sure you knew what team work was.. If you did not do your job the play failed and he would let you know. later in life. I truly appreciated his passion for the game understood his values. RIP Coach

Coach Kirk was a no nonsense studd who guided many kids in his days at FLHS Along side my dad and countless others, so many have been touched by his influence. God speed.

So sorry to hear that Coach Kirk passed away! He was one of my favorite teachers from my days at FLHS. He was my swim coach, my driver's ed instructor and I took his Business Law class, too! Great memories...
