

The funeral service will be held at Fred Hunters Funeral in Hollywood, FL on Saturday August 1, 2020 at 1:00PM. Visitation is limited to 10 family members only and live streaming will be available. Graveside services will follow at a later date at Sanford Corners Cemetery in Calcium, NY.
Robert was born in Fine, NY on February 17, 1929. He attended North Junior High School in Watertown, NY and in 1946 at the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy. One of his most exciting adventures while in the US Navy was going to the Antarctic, being in the Bay of Whales in the South Pole with the fleet of ships under the command of Rear Admiral Richard Bird who commanded the expedition Operation Highjump.
Robert was married to Wanda May Graham on January 29, 1950; they were married 65 years and one day when Wanda passed away at the age of 84.
Robert worked as a tractor trailer driver for various companies in the Watertown NY area to include Burns, Whitakers, McIntosh Farms, and Longways Gas for 35 years. Robert enjoyed home construction, wood working, camping and fishing.
Robert is survived by his children Dwight (Jean) Wells in Port Charlotte, FL, Judith (Gary) Allen in Watertown, NY, Joanne (Gary) Flood in Newark, NY, Yancey (Kay) Wells in Mexico, NY, Sarah (David) Crossett in Fulton, NY, Robin (Bryan) Braud in Coral Springs, FL, along with 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with 4 on the way, several nieces and nephews among other family and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Wanda May Graham, both parents Dean J Wells and Hazel I Wells, and a sister June Benoit. He is survived by a sister Helen Willems who lives in Goderich, Ontario Canada
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the American Legion.
