Ronald A. Pohorence

Ron was born in Cleveland Ohio on March 11, 1942 to Andrew Pohorence and Anna ( Furchak) Pohorence. His mother, Anna Pohorence later moved to Yonkers New York, where Ron completed his education and later joined the United States Army. He spent most of his military tour in Germany Army Intelligence. After the Army, Ron started a police career joining the Yonkers Police Department and later working extreme long hours; achieved the rank of Detective. Detective Ronald Pohorence could tell you many stories of his work in Crime and Narcotics. Ron retired from the Westchester County Police Department and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

After retirement Ron started working with a large international company as the Chief Security Officer and traveled from Europe to Asia. Ron was working with that Company until the time he was diagnosed with Cancer.

Shortly after being discharged from the Army, Ron married Karen Pohorence, they had two children, Keith and Lisa. Karen, passed away in 2000. Ron remarried in 2002 to his beloved wife Miriam (Jaramillo) Pohorence.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Miriam Pohorence, her son, Omar, his wife, Tina, and three-grandchildren, his daughter, Lisa Pohorence, his sister, Dolores Pohorence Burns, of New York, and his brothers, Rob Pohorence and family, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, also Barry Pohorence and family of New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Furchak Pohorence, his son Keith, and his first wife, Karen Pohorence.
