Ruth Ann Hoxie

Ruth was born in Highland Park, Michigan on September 6, 1941. She was the second of six children born to Leighton J. and Eleanor M. (Schofield) Shutes. At the age of two Ruth and her family moved from Michigan, settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ruth graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, class of 1959. She later met and married John (Jack) A. Hoxie, Jr. in 1961 with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. In those years she and Jack welcomed three children: John, Alan and Marla. Ruth loved her job of 18 years as Librarian at Faith Lutheran School where she was deeply loved by the children, staff and parents and where John, Alan and Marla attended school. She then worked as a kindergarten aide at Bethany Christian School for a few years which she also loved and was loved.

Ruth was a faithful member of Rio Vista Community Church (Bethany Presbyterian Church) since 1945. She poured her heart into serving the Lord and His people. Ruth and Jack centered their marriage and family around their faith in the Lord. She was a prayer warrior serving many, many years on the Prayer Team. She was also a faithful member of a Rio women's Bible study for over 40 years. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and her Rio family who loved her well.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Jack; children: John (Cyndi) Hoxie, Alan (Jackie) Hoxie, daughter, Marla Hoxie; precious grandchildren Aiden and Alyssa; siblings: Jerry (Charlotte) Shutes, Paul (Lynn) Shutes, Sharon (Gene) Michaels, Lynn (Tim) Benefield, and Tim (Jill) Shutes. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, aunts and cousins.
