

Ryan Scott Paton, affectionately known as Doogie to his friends and family, passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on March 20, 1983, in the vibrant culture of Trinidad and Tobago, Doogie's zest for life and infectious spirit were evident from the start. He departed this world in Hollywood, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
Doogie was the cherished son of Lorin and Barbara Paton, a supportive brother to Alastair Paton, and a loving husband to Joyce Figueroa. He was also a beloved grandson to Emelda Fuller, affectionately known as Granny. His family circle extended to his sister-in-law Zia Paton, his adored nephew Ethan, and a host of cousins, uncles, and aunts who will miss his presence dearly.
A man of intellect and ambition, Doogie earned both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Information Technology from Florida International University. His academic achievements paved the way for a successful career as a Senior IT Consultant, where he specialized in SAP implementations. His colleagues respected him for his expertise and cherished him for his camaraderie and wit.
Doogie's interests were as diverse as his skills. He was an avid football (soccer) enthusiast, both as a spectator and a participant. His love for hashing saw him traverse cross-country trails with vigor and joy. A man who found peace in nature, Doogie was also passionate about gardening, a hobby that allowed him to cultivate beauty and share it with those he loved. His spirit of adventure led him to explore the world through traveling, hiking, and biking, always with a sense of wonder and excitement.
Liming, a term from his Trinidadian roots for hanging out with friends, was an activity that Doogie elevated to an art form. He was the life of every gathering, and his laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As a loving dog dad, he shared his kindness with his four-legged companions, who were a source of joy and comfort throughout his life.
Doogie was a man best described by the words loving, kind, and funny. His ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth was unmatched. He had the rare gift of making everyone feel special and valued, a testament to his generous spirit.
As we remember Doogie, we are reminded of the words of the great poet Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." A celebration of life for Ryan will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024.
