

A Trailblazer in Dominican Broadcasting
Shermaine Green Brown, a beloved figure in Dominican broadcasting, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Miramar, FL, at the age of 68. Born on May 11, 1956, in Roseau, Dominica, to Lita Green and Vivian Green, Shermaine's journey began in her hometown and led her to become a distinguished voice in Dominican media.
She attended St. Marteen School and Convent High School before pursuing higher education at the University of the West Indies. On April 3, 1986, Shermaine married Paul A. Brown in Barbados, beginning a life filled with love, family, and professional achievements.
Shermaine's career at the nation's station, DBS Radio, spanned over four decades. She joined the station in 1977 and quickly rose through the ranks, holding key positions such as Programme Director and Acting General Manager. Her voice became synonymous with DBS Radio, particularly through her work as the News Editor of the 13:15 Total News and as the host of the popular morning program, "Talking Point."
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shermaine had a deep and meaningful relationship with the Office of the President. As a founding member of the President’s Charities Foundation, she served as Public Relations Officer, dedicating fifteen years of selfless service. Even after relocating to Miami in 2018, Shermaine remained an honorary member of the Foundation, continuing her support through in-kind and financial contributions.
Shermaine Green Brown is preceded in death by her father, Vivian Green. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul A. Brown; her daughters Shakira Henderson and her husband, Centelle St. Aimee, Tiffany Brown, and son Kyle Brown; her mother, Lita Green; and her brothers Derrick Green and Brian Green.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024. Details about the memorial service in Dominica will be announced.
