On Monday, February 1, 2021, our beloved son and brother, Stefano Jammel Barbosa (Té), passed away at the age of 37 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Stefano was born on August 9, 1983, in Campinas, Brazil to Julio Cesar Barbosa and Grace Jammel Barbosa. Stefano graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School (class of 2001), and proceeded to earn two bachelor’s degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduating from Penn State, Stefano moved back to South Florida and after some time began working in real estate, which became one of his many passions and a field in which he (unsurprisingly) quickly excelled in, recently becoming a broker. Working in real estate made him feel as if he were not working a day in his life.
Not many people in this world are fortunate enough to love life and live it to the fullest extent the way Stefano did. He truly lived with zeal and was always eager to meet his challenges head on. He was a person who seldom had a bad day and would soon overcome it if he ever did. His perennial good mood, his larger-than-life smile, eternal curiosity to discover the unknown and his passion for children and pets always captivated those around him. A modern-day renaissance man, who could, and eagerly would assist you with any problem or question, big or small, from computer/TV/Wi-Fi issues to helping you with your motorcycle or car, teaching you how to scuba, explaining how to sail, how to get the best deals, expertly use credit card points and frequent flyer miles, how to get the best out of eBay or show you how to fly an airplane. No subject was outside of his expertise, but he was also happy to (convincingly) make-up facts in those rare occasions he did not readily know the answer.
Stefano recently became an avid cyclist, and throughout his life practiced almost every sport, including, swimming, tennis, jiu jitsu, basketball, hockey, soccer, competitive rowing (state champion!), competitive bowling, squash, golf, and cross-fit. He also enjoyed watching Formula1 and curling. Stefano’s most successful sport , however, was making life-long friends and spreading love to all.
Extremely intelligent, sometimes he didn’t have the patience for some of life’s small irritations and, of course, those who knew him best will tell you that from time to time, he was known to have a few outbursts, but he’d quickly forget it and move forward. Above all else, Stefano was genuine, loving, and generous, and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Stefano is survived by his father Julio and mother Grace; sister Bruna, brother Guilherme, brother-in-law Jason and by many other family members and friends who loved him dearly and whom he touched deeply.
