Thomas Nibley Edwards, March 30, 1923 - March 28, 2014. Tom Edwards, 90, was born in Logan, UT. When he was 3 years old his family moved to Eldon, MO where he grew up. In World War II he served as a pilot of a B-24, flying 35 missions over Germany. His flight jacket is on display at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA. After the war he graduated from the Univ. of Missouri and joined his father in the movie theater business. In 1956 he moved his family to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he became a very successful real estate broker. He was an avid big game hunter, having hunted on 6 of the 7 continents. He was past president of Ft. Lauderdale Board of Realtors, former commodore of Ft. Lauderdale Yacht Club, a member of Phi Delta Theta and the African Safari Club, past trustee of First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale and also attended First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville, N.C. He was married to Nedra Covington for 59 years before she passed away in 2008. He is survived by his sister Jodie Needy and her family, his 3 children: Sue Rich (Larry), Debra Edwards, and Tom Edwards, Jr. (Connie), 8 grandchildren, and 8 great- grandchildren. He was a rock who always knew that "everything would work out". On Friday March 28th, instead of being escorted back to the Cliffs of Dover by fighters, he was escorted Home by angels. He was one of the Greats of the Greatest Generation. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 6th at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home on Federal Hwy on Saturday, April 5th from 5 to 7 pm.
