

Wentworth, Thomas Edward, 91, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He was born March 30, 1920 in Fall River, MA to Edward A. and Mary E. (OConnor). Thomas was a WWII veteran, serving as aSurgical Technician from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed in the Northern Solomons Western Pacific and received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. Thomas married Mary Elizabeth after WWII and they moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1957. He owned his own auto parts business for several years and was also a former employee of the School Board of Broward County. Thomas was well known at Waxy OConnors Irish pub in Fort Lauderdale for being there first customer and a frequent patron. He made numerous trips to Ireland, where he met and visited with relatives over the years. In addition to his parents,he is predeceased by his wife, Mary in 1993 and his daughter, Patsy in 2001. Thomas is survived by his daughter Sandy, son Jeffery, grandchildren April Jackson, Scotty Bill Schneider and Brendan Wentworth, one great-granddaughter Samantha Schneider, his sister Mary Viveiros and many other family members. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28th, 4-7 p.m., at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 29th, 10:30 a.m., at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale.
