

Campbell, Walter "Buddy" 91 of Pompano Beach, passed away on June 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Leslie, his devoted wife, father of six children, Timothy "Tim" Campbell, (predeceased) Senator Walter "Skip" Campbell, Dr. Maureen Campbell, Senator John Campbell, Edward Campbell (predeceased) and Kathleen Slater; three daughters-in -law, Brenda Sue, Lynn and Kathy and son- in- law, Bobby, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law Marilyn Smith, his brother-in-law Larry and sister-in-law Susan. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II as an infantryman. He served in France with the 398th Regiment 100th Division receiving numerous medals and citations including the Presidential Unit citation.Buddy moved his family from New Hyde Park, New York to Ft. Lauderdale in 1961 where he opened the Pony Tail Lounge, an establishment known for having the "best and thickest sandwiches in Ft. Lauderdale." Known as a bartender extraordinaire and friend to all, he served as host to a varied clientele from the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department to the New York Yankees. Buddy's greatest pride was his children. He instilled in them a strong desire to learn and to utilize their skills to improve the lives of others. A wake will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Hwy, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Dr., Ft. Lauderdale, FL, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10 am. Interment will follow at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Broward Community Foundation Muriel T. Campbell fund in the name of Walter G Campbell, 910 E. Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33301
