The world needs more people like you Mr. Adams. I’ll never forget you and Mrs. Adams.

I met Bill about 8 years ago at a junior tennis tournament near Montreal. We had several enjoyable chats about tennis... He never once mentioned any of the well-known - or 'famous' - tennis people he knew and/or had worked with. And so I had no idea until I read the news of his passing (I just saw the news today, more than a year after).

Although I met him but that one time, he made a memorable impression as a sincerely nice, genuinely humble, and very knowledgeable and compassionate man that I fondly remember to this day.

Deepest sympathy to Carol and all family members.  
Bill will always be remembered. He was certainly the same throughout the many years we spent together. His smile, jokes, healthy advice and relentless pursuit to help others especially Tennis players will never be forgotten.

The world will miss you, Mr. Adams. You have impacted the life of so many young tennis players. Because of you, my daughter, Mikaela develop the skills to obtain a four year full ride to Hampton University to play tennis. We love you we will miss you, but I believe we will see you again. In Georgetown, Guyana during the 1960s.  Carol's Mom and my Mom are/were siblings. So, I can refer to him as my cousin-in-law. :)  He was a fun person to be around; he had a lot of energy and you can feel his presence.  He was someone with integrity, good character and had a passion to help others.  Some years ago, Marilyn, my wife, and I had the privilege to visit his Tennis Camp in FL.  We were very much impressed with his pride that he had for the youngsters he was training.  Bill, you will be missed.  May you rest in eternal peace.  Our sincere condolences to Carol and Family. My deepest condolences to the wife, children, sister Paulette and other relatives of my teenage friend William through whom I met Ainsley Noble and the late 'Mashie'.  We had lost touch for years then I saw him in Guyana a few years ago. It was such a pleasure, but little did I know that that was our last meeting. Farewell my friend. May God grant your soul eternal rest.

I met Bill through joining the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association in 1998 therabout. He has visited Guyana several times since then to impart his knowledge about modern tennis trends in the game, the business of the game and facility management and I was fortunate to stick around tennis management until now, to learn from his vast worldwide experiences that he was always willing to share. While here, he would conduct tennis clinics with coaches and players and meet with executives. While in Florida, he would provide opportunities for juniors to train with a warm homestay at his facility to upgrade their skills in preparation for potential scholarships. He always expressed every intention to come back home to build a tennis academy and also to see how we progressed with initiatives agreed with him that would put Guyana on the map for international tennis tournaments. He was so excited to see improvements in local tennis, he came to Guyana in 2017 to train our players and led us to victory in Cup of Guyanas that year! His passion was not only about tennis, but moreso the shared vision of what tennis can do for children of Guyana and the tourism sector at large. Our tennis community has lost a significant pillar of achievement through sport. Gone too soon but God always knows best. Guyana Tennis will surely miss his advice and support. May his immediate family and his extended tennis family be comforted by God's love and compassion. RIP Bill.

My family has known Bill since me and my sister were young and he coached us at the academy. There we had lots of fun memories and amazing moments. I’m positive he will be missed by every life he has touched. R.I.P and my condolences to every life he touched.

Very saddened to hear the news of your passing. Bill and I were apart of the Hopman Boys, from the coaching tree of the legendary coach Harry Hopman. When I arrived at Hopmans Bill was already long gone over to Italy, but some of the other coaches would always say you remind me of Bill Adams. When we finally met in the late 90's it was like finding long lost family. He said I don't know why you remind them of me, because I am more good looking than you. Since that day whenever we meet we would talk a little tennis but a whole lot of BS and laugh. Rest on my brother.

I was able to spend about 3 weeks with Mr. Adams under his instruction. He was truly a gifted coach. He encouraged me, made me laugh, and truly wanted me to go as far as I could go! May he rest in peace and I will be praying for his family and friends. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Adams. ❤️

Farewell to brother from another mother. Bill and I grew up in Lodge Village. We alter boys at the Lodge chapel. We played soccer for the alter staff. When we attended high school we were separated. 

I was reunited with Bill in NYC and that’s when I learned Bill was a well respected Tennis coach in southern Florida, Fort Lauderdale to be exact. I would shortly thereafter learn that Bill was the brother of my sister Paullette. As a result I was kept updated on Bills successful coaching career. 
To my deceased, friend I say sleep in peace and rest assure the work you started with the Tennis Academies will live on as your legacy to Youth and Tennis in general. You made an indelible contribution to Tennis and for that we are all grateful. I am personally thankful for having met you on my journey. What a great role model you were.

In loving memory of Mr. Adams, an exceptional tennis coach and mentor. Words cannot express the sorrow that our entire family feels upon hearing of his passing, but especially Rachel, who had the privilege of being under his guidance during the summer of 2021. What began as a summer training quickly developed into a lasting bond. Time did not diminish Mr. Adams' dedication to Rachel's progress, as he consistently checked in on her and became an inspiring figure in her life. Even today, Rachel reminisces about the incredible experience she had under his tutelage.

Mr. Adams leaves behind a void in the tennis community that will be difficult to fill. His passion for the sport and commitment to nurturing young talent made him a beloved figure among students and fellow coaches alike. His expertise and immeasurable patience will be sorely missed.

No words are adequate to express my deep sorrow over Bill's unexpected and far too early passing.  Bill was more than a friend, he was family, a confidante a source of support and priceless moments for both myself and my son.  Throughout our lives, we reached out to each other when our children were in crisis and he always came through for me as I always used my skills to reciprocate for his family and at times his students. The bond forged between Bill and I over more than three decades could only be truly appreciated by the two of us. Bill was second to none as a tennis instructor but more importantly as a man, whose caring and kindness knew no limits. My deepest sympathy and love to Carol, Natalie Iyabo and Damon from all my family whose lives you unforgettably touched. David, my wife Sallie, and of course my son Michael, and his sisters Jennifer and Samantha.

Mr. Adams was so much more than a tennis coach. He was a mentor, a role model, and a father figure to so many individuals. I came to Mr. Adams at the age of 12, and over the years, saw first hand how large of an impact he had on so many people. He altered the lives of countless individuals including myself for the better. I can’t imagine a more purposeful life. Forever grateful for all opportunities he gave me and the memories shared. Coach Adams, or to Hurley and I, Bill, that’s how down-to-earth he was.  Titles were not what Bill was about; it was the kids he coached that mattered!
Bill was one of those people whom you met and instantly loved!  He had a deep voice and a heart of genuine love, compassion, interest, inclusion, trust, helpfulness, encouragement, and I could go on and on!
After meeting Bill briefly, Hurley was very impressed and interested in the little he knew of Bill as a Coach; I was, too!  
Bill took Hurley, then 14 years old, to Italy for one year with the understanding I would pay Bill as I accumulated the money for his training, room, and board, etc., without me signing an agreement; who does that?  
Bill was a father figure for my precious Hurley, and yes, they had their issues like any parent and child would, and we would all joke about them later. Bill’s wife, Carol, was just as sweet, loving, and welcoming and opened her home to us. She was like a second mother to my Hurley, and his daughter, Natalie, was the sister Hurley never had.  Bill’s family was one that anyone would have liked to be a part of, and we were lucky to have had that opportunity!
Bill, you have accomplished your work on earth. You did a fantastic job, and in my biased opinion, you were extraordinary!
Words cannot express, as it leaves your wonderful family, friends, and all those whose lives you have touched in a somber mood.

I met Uncle Bill through his niece Laurell. He made me feel like i was a part of the family. He was  such welcoming soul. I loved listening to his stories. Because of him I started watching tennis and I truly enjoy it. Uncle Bill you will truly be missed.

Big Brother Bill. As I would call him. You are a man to be admired for all that you have done to provide so many opportunities to the young aspiring pros. You made it possible for so many by your warm heart, being a father figure and not to mention making it so financially possible to so many, especially our Island kids. I remember the days when you would call me up to vent about our Island kids. You could just hear your heartfelt passion in concern. We would always end our conversations in laughter. We were fortunate and blessed to have met Mr Adams via the marriage of our son, Damon, to his daughter, Natalie.  Mr Adams was a true loving family man and wonderful mentor to many people. He embraced our family as if we were one big family and brought many smiles to us during our visits. 
He never met a stranger because of his outgoing personality! 
We will always remember the fun and pleasant times we shared.

We were fortunate enough to meet Mr. Adams just a  few years ago. We got to see him in action, all the people coming to be coached or consulted from all backgrounds, we were so excited and happy just to be on the courts and in their tennis world.  My son has Asbergers and tennis is the first sport he has played and fallen in love with.  My family will forever be grateful! Mr. Adams was so knowledgeable about tennis and life.  He was so inclusive not judgmental, he was encouraging and informative.  We talked about how my son's different ability and he was so supportive and understanding and said that it didnt mean he couldnt learn tennis, he saw that my son was committed and encouraged us to keep trying.  I used to love hearing his stories about his world travels playing tennis and developing players.  I know we are blessed to have met him, he encouraged me to live a fuller life just hearing his stories and watching how he kept spending time doing what he loved.  He spoke so highly of his head coach Kevron, who we work with now because of him... he was kind and loving and a blessing he loved his family and tennis and lived a passionate lovely life.  My son who is 14 was so sad to hear that he passed and yet he said he understands that he is in a better place, living on, and he left some wonderful memories.  My condolences to his family, the players and Coach Kevron who are also really both his family and tennis family too.

Mr. Adams was a great coach, mentor, and father figure. I showed up to your academy under prepared, under skilled, and a bit delusional to the hard work it takes to become a good tennis player. Little did I know how much you would teach me in the time I was there and how your guidance would also prepare me for life beyond tennis. The impact Mr. Adams made on myself and others at the academy will be forever cherished. I am forever grateful to you Mr. and Mrs. Adams and the rest of your family for opening up your home to me. I met you when I was 14 and since then nothing would be the same anymore, as a Tennis Player and, most importantly, as  a Human Being. 

Harry Hopman, the Legendary GOAT Coach himself, chose you as one of his very few Disciples and Right Shoulders. 
He loved you deeply and intimately knew you were extraordinary.

You coached an endless list of great players. 
Some became Champions, some became awesome people, as you gave them a chance to obtain and gain a Tennis Scholarship to get through University thanks to your knowledge and skills.

You taught us so much, bringing together players from all over the World. 
I can never forget any of your story-telling lessons. 
They touched our hearts and inspired us all the time. 

To us you were a Precious Guru, a Lama, a Mentor, a loving Dad, a fearsome Army General at times, a Mate always.

Bill has been one of my dearest friends since we first met in Bologna Italy in 1990. A man with tremendous passion to teach tennis at a high level, and to make  great impact on the lives of his many students. I will miss him greatly, but always remember so many great memories. I wish Carol and the rest of the family the most comforting peace possible now.

Mr. William (Bill) Adams was a phenomenal father figure and coach for William.  A giant of a man and truly a man for all seasons.   He was simply a wonderful human being.  

A man with high morals, exemplary character, honesty and integrity.   The high level skillset, principles and discipline that Mr. Adams instilled in William and the other tennis players is immeasurable and impeccable!  

We salute Mr. Adams for taking William under his wings at such a young age and for being his Guardian and coach enabling him to have a family in a home environment away from home. I'm still in shock at your passing, we spoke only a few weeks ago. The first thing he would start with was, plans of still trying to go back home to star an academy. Something he was so passionate about doing. That was one of his dreams, to work with our players and also have international players train I Guyana. He tought me soo much, sharing his ideas to help me develop my club and even offering our players opportunities to train at his academy. He took my daughter Nicola under his wings, she received a full scholarship and made him very proud in the end. He was like a father to her, she's still trying to come to grips with his passing. 
Another player from our program who recently trained with Bill, was finalizing plans for a scholarship thanks to this great man. Thank you Mr. Bill Adams for all you have done for us we are forever grateful to you and your lovely wife Ms. Carol Adams. May your soul R.I.P....

Mr. Adams thank you for everything. What was taught to me both on and off the court did not just help me become a better player but was valuable during my college years and is  something that I could apply in life. Rest in peace.

William ‘ Bill’ Adams , tennis coach extraordinaire. Remarkable family man, and superb coach/ mentor to countless young tennis asprants throughout Europe, Central America and the Caribbean. After playing the sports in his youthful years he had the good fortune to cross paths with the legendary tennis coach Harry Hofmann. Mr. Hofmann took an instant liking for him and willing share his vast knowledge of the sport with him, culminating in giving him the keys to operate one of his academy in Italy. There he  enjoyed considerable success. Upon leaving Italy he was able to parlay his considerable tennis coaching skills to open a few academies in the USA , culminating at the Bill Adams Tennis Academy in Fort Lauderdale , Florida where he passed away. In the intervening years he also took invaluable time out of his busy schedule to help in the development of tennis in Central America and the Caribbean countries, including his birth country Guyana. He was really in the royality of tennis hobnobing with the likes of the late Authur Ashe, Jimmy Conners, Chris Evert, Billy Jean King and many others. He was also a good friend of Richard Williams and played a role in the development of his daughters Venus and Serena game. He also had the privilege of coaching the recent champion Niomi Osaka earlier in her career. Despite all his tennis success , he was a remarkable family man devoted to his spouse Carol ( whose role was equally essential in running of the academies), Natalie, Damion and all his grandchildren.  As we say so long to Bill, we his family, relatives and all those who lives he touch can take comfort in the fact that he left us with many wonderful and fond memories that can last us a lifetime. So Bill if for some miraculous reason you can hear us, pleased remember that we will always Love you the same Yesterday, Today, and forever. So long Bill until we meet again.

He increased the efficiency of bauxite industry mines planning and operations.
Billy Adams introduced me to geologist Victor Wright who in the early 1970s, had recently returned to Linden from geology Studies in the US. Billy and Victor were lifelong friends in Linden. If I recall correctly, they worked together with others on the MSD digitization and computer mapping of mine drill hole data resulting in increased efficiency of mines planning and operations. Also, IBM Chicago dispatched a techie in 1974 to coach us during implementation of the digital plotter hardware and supporting software.

Bill and I shared a profound journey back in the early 80s, working side by side under the esteemed guidance of the late and legendary Davis Cup coach, Harry Hopman. Our paths converged in Bologna, Italy, at the HH European International Tennis Camp. This camp, among the first of its kind in Europe, drew famous players from every corner of the globe.
Bill's talents as both an athlete and a coach were unparalleled. Anyone fortunate enough to step onto his court experienced an incredible transformation, soaking up his invaluable tennis tips and tricks.
Beyond the court, Bill's enduring legacy resonates in the Caribbean region, where he tirelessly dedicated over 30 years to nurturing young tennis players' dreams. His influence was immeasurable, changing countless lives and turning aspirations into realities.

There are no words to express the gratitude I have for Mr. Adams and his wife. He has taught my son Torain so much and accepted him like a son. Treated him just like family. It was hard for me as a single mum to just let your child travel to the USA alone from Barbados on a chance, but it surely paid off. Not only did Mr. Adams improved on his tennis but on his mental as well and God knows I am forever thankful and grateful to him.

Bill was a remarkable human being. He was kind, caring and most of dedicated family man. I m addition to that in my humble opinion Bill was a tennis savant. He could look at a player diagnose their deficiencies and create program that solves their issues as long as they follow his doting instructions. He had an agile mind that could problem solve the most diciest of challenges. He was a dear friend of mine  and will be missed not only by me, but his family and all those people who were fortunate to interact with him.  His effervescent personality and witty takes will forever be missed. The plane that you have departed on is one we all will have to take some day,  but you have left us much humanity and love to feed on. Rest well  Bill!

I first met Mr. Adams in 2017 when our eldest daughter, Selene had the opportunity to go to his academy. The interest he showed in her development was comparable to that of a father figure. She spent several summers training with him and was soon joined by her sister, Sydney. He played a significant role in getting her a collegiate tennis scholarship and continued to stay in touch, always inquiring about her progress. He was an excellent coach and even better man. He will be missed. RIP Mr Adams.

You took me to my first professional event and I responded by almost beating one of the best players in the world.
This made you proud.

Then to grass courts championship in Philadelphia where Kirk De Silva and i mae it all the way to the semi-final  
, this also made you proud.

I was happy to repay you life changing opportunity with results.

You took me to my second pro event where I created an historic upset by defeating a top 10 ranked player in the world.

We then went to Panama that year where more history was made when I (your player) defeated the humber 1 Ranked player in Central,South America and the Caribbean. 
All under your guidance. 

Also to one of my most memorable experiences. Corey  Huggins and i Playing in the orange bowl and scrapping our way to the Orange Bowl quarterfinals . Mr Adams  you took us  there left after you saw us loosing and then showed up when we made that unbelievable come back from down match points against the current world number 1 in doubles 
You were so happy after that match.
And we were so happy to deliver that win and result for you

Then few years ago we met at an international tournament as coaches. We laughed and spoke about the history we made together The fun. The hardwork. The memories. The success. 
How proud our team made you feel especially to see us all become successful.

Bills you were known Wil be greatly missed and your passing left a void in the lives of many. You will be impossible to replace, you were one of a kind.. Thank you for your service. May your soul rest peacefully

This comes as an obvious shock to me. Bill Adam's from the time I met him in 2004. Changed my life. I only hope that the lives he touched in the Tennis world Really realized that they were one of a unique few to get to know such a great person. My heart and love goes out to the family, much love take care.

Coach Adams was a very good man and a good coach, for my son Adam. He was also a good friend of mine and my family. We had lots of good conversations and idea exchanges when Adam was practicing in his academy. And even after Adam left his academy, he still welcomed Adam to visit and play whenever Adam wanted to. 

Our last conversation was about putting my daughter Angela in his academy, and he gladly gave me their best rate:-)

Coach Adams will be remembered! RIP!
