Wilma L. Scott passed away on Sept. 3rd at the age of 95. For the past 10 years she had resided at JKV in Pompano Beach, having moved there from Ft. Lauderdale. She was originally from Minneapolis, but had been in S. Florida since 1957. In Hollywood, she and her husband opened Scott Motors, which became one of the first Datsun (Nissan) dealerships in the US.
Wilma's husband, Vernon L. Scott, passed away in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Laughlin, and brother, Truman Swanson. She is survived by her son, Steven, and his wife, Carole, and also by 3 nieces: Pat Ryan of RI, Sandra Harich and Candy Ellingson of St. Paul, MN, and 1 nephew, John Laughlin, of Tucson AZ, and lifelong friend, June Schwanz, and all their families.
Wilma had an inquiring mind, loved learning and working in the family business, and enjoyed fishing and boating at their home in the Keys. After retiring, she and Vern traveled around the world, and Wilma continued traveling in later years with family and friends. Her greatest loves were her family, young children, her friends, growing orchids, and playing bridge. Wilma was a mentor and role model and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
