Yves Lumarque Saint Gilles, aged 72, of North Miami, Florida, was called home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2026, in St. Cloud, Florida, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family.
Born on November 13, 1953, in St. Marc, Haiti, Yves was the beloved son of Innocent Saint Gilles and Adele Marcellus. He began his academic journey in St. Marc, later graduating from secondary school in Port-au-Prince. Yves’ dedication to learning led him to Institut Supérieur Technique d'Haïti and Université Ruben Leconte, where he earned his degree in accounting.
On July 15, 1980, Yves married his soulmate, Juliette Fils Aime, at Saint Louis Roi de France Church in Port-au-Prince. Their union was a beautiful testament to faith, partnership, and enduring devotion.
With hope and determination, Yves moved to the United States in 1981, seeking greater opportunities for his loved ones. He brought with him not only his education and strong work ethic, but also his vibrant culture, steadfast faith, and unwavering commitment to family. His journey was marked by sacrifice and perseverance, always guided by the belief that hard work and faith would illuminate the path for generations to come.
Settling in South Florida, Yves dedicated many years to Kel-Glo Paint Corporation, where his reliability and steady character shone through. Later, with courage and vision, he embraced entrepreneurship, proudly owning and operating Caribbean Spot Restaurant—one of Miami’s treasured Haitian establishments—for over 18 years. Through his business, Yves fostered community, culture, and connection. He also served as a security guard for the City of Fort Lauderdale, earning recognition as Employee of the Year.
Yves was a gentle and generous spirit who found joy in life’s simple pleasures: long walks, tending to his lawn, listening to timeless music, and sharing laughter with friends and family. He delighted in classic television and the music of legends like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, and Elvis Presley. His home was always filled with warmth, music, and the comforting presence of his smile.
Faith was the cornerstone of Yves’ life. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he dedicated himself to his ministry, sharing his love for Jehovah and living by his deeply held beliefs. He inspired others with scripture, humility, and the example he set.
Yves lived by principles of honor and integrity, believing in the importance of family, the sustaining power of faith, and the grace that should guide our actions. He taught his children and grandchildren to pause before reacting, to choose kindness, and to carry themselves with dignity and compassion.
Yves is lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Innocent Saint Gilles and Adele Marcellus, and his sister, Carol Alexis.

Poem:
A Letter of Peace
My dear family and friends,
Please do not let your hearts be overwhelmed with sorrow. The love we shared was real, and it does not end here.
I am resting now — free from pain, free from worry — safe in Jehovah’s memory. Hold tightly to the hope we spoke about so often. What feels like goodbye is not forever.
Continue loving one another. Stay close. Forgive quickly. Laugh when you can. Speak my name with warmth, not only tears.
When you remember me, remember my love for you and my faith in Jehovah’s promises. Let that bring you comfort.
We will see each other again.
Until then, keep the faith and keep each other.
With all my love,
Lumarque
