Yvette Laura Vezina (Michaud), 72, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, following a tough battle with cancer. Her passing comes just four short months after the loss of her beloved husband of 50 years, Leo Robert Vezina. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and love—a legacy that continues to shine through the generations.
Born on February 12, 1953, in Hollywood, Florida, Yvette was the cherished daughter of the late Yvonne Rose and Leo Ernest Michaud. A proud graduate of Hollywood Hills High School, she rooted herself deeply in her hometown. She and Leo raised their five sons in a home they built together in Southwest Ranches, the foundation of a life full of purpose, warmth, and joy.
Yvette was a devoted mother to Paul (Pam), Troy (Michelle), Scott (CJ), Eric (Ingrid), and Mark (Tricia). She was also a deeply proud grandmother to David (36), Kevin (29), Jasmine (20), Austin (18), Nathan (13), Ford (11), Colt (10), and River (7), and a loving great-grandmother to Payton (5) and Blakely (1). Her love for her family was boundless and unwavering. She lived and breathed for every moment spent with them.
Yvette’s passion for life was felt in everything she did. She was the heart behind Vezina & Sons Construction, the business she and Leo built together. She worked closely with her husband in the Redman Builders office, a company he co-founded with his partner. She found happiness in the little things—riding her bike with family, taking golf cart rides with her grandkids, and cheering loudly for her beloved Miami Dolphins and Florida Panthers. She found true joy in supporting her grandchildren’s sports, hobbies, and achievements. She found peace in the company of her cats. A true adventurer at heart, she especially loved traveling, with her favorite destination being Marco Island. Her last big adventure was a dream trip to Greece with Leo for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Her Catholic faith grounded her through life’s joys and challenges. Yvette was a quiet but strong supporter of causes close to her heart, including Autism Awareness and Cancer Awareness. She approached life with grace, humor, and deep compassion. Her love of family, her warmth, and her vibrant spirit touched everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and her siblings Doug Michaud, Kenneth Michaud, Leona Garcia, and Lisette Cika. She is survived by her siblings Linda Soles and Phillip Michaud, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless extended family and friends who will continue to carry her memory forward.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St., Hollywood, FL. A private reception will follow at the Vezina residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Association for Cancer Research in Yvette’s honor: donate.aacr.org/participants/michellecika.
Though our hearts ache with grief, we find peace in knowing Yvette and Leo are together again, just as they were always meant to be.
