After completing 1st grade, Jim moved to New Bloomfield, Missouri where he continued his education and graduated high school.
Jim married Marjorie (Priest) Phillips (and her 3 children) August 27, 1960.
He worked as an electrical lineman for Central Electric Power Coop, retiring after 40 and ½ years.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; son, Peter Mark Coots; brother, Jerry Coots; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Terry Phillips (wife, Renee (Cook); daughters, Cheryl (husband Gary) Fox and Barbara (husband Terry) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Vivian Coots; sister, Debbie Coots; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great- grandchildren.
Jim was a dedicated member of the Holts Summit congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved and collected tractors; also spent many hours tracing and reacquiring his families’ steam engine which he proudly displayed at steam shows.
Jim will be greatly missed by his many, many dedicated friends, family and extended family.
