In January of 1955 he was united in marriage to Juanita (Miles) Edwards. She preceded him in death in October 1968. He later married Mary Lou Luetkemeyer (Bolten) who survives at their home.
Walt served in the United States Navy. He worked 20 years for Great Plains Gas, Empire Gas and Standard Oil Company. He was also self-employed for several years operating Capital City Propane, Capital City Texaco, and Chocolate Aahs Candy and Gift Store. After retirement, he drove for the Rehab for the Blind. His favorite pastime while not working was entertaining and cooking for his family and friends.
Walt lived by the golden rule and never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his wife Mary Lou and his six children, Lindel Bolten of Jefferson City, Bill P. Luebbert and wife Kathy of Bell Chase, La., Keith Bolten and wife Linda of Jefferson City, Paula Karl and husband Tom of Farmington, Mo., Lissa Davis and husband Brian of Naples, Fl., and Carol Clark and husband Mike of Jefferson City. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Paul Luebbert, Joey Bryan, Jessica (Bolten) Cozart, Justin Bolten, Andy Karl, Betsy Karl, Aaron Davis, Brandon Davis, Colby Davis, Kyle Clark and Anna Clark. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Al Bochat; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Virgil Luebbert; and a sister, Loretta Bochat.
Friends will be received from 1 until 2 pm Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit. A private family celebration of Walt’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, those desiring are requested to lend a hand to a friend or stranger in need.
