

A lifelong Cortland resident, Jr. was born November 18, 1945, a son of the late Abraham and Bernice Satterly McCloy, Sr.
Jr. was the owner and operator of the McCloy Farm on Sears Road, continuing the family farm his father started in 1935. He later went to work as a cook at Greenbriar Adult Facility, Homer.
He loved horses-especially Belgians and looked forward to the Knobby Acres Hare Scramble that was held on his property each year.
Jr.’s sense of humor, his straight-forward and simple way of life will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is a brother, David McCloy of Cortland; three sisters, Della (Herman) Ericksen of Norwich, NY; Catherine (John) Murdock of Cortland and Mary Moore of Pitcher, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Abraham was predeceased by his wife, Linda K. Russell McCloy in 2009 and a sister, Beverly Powell in May 2012.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Virgil Rural Cemetery, Route 392, Virgil, with Rev. Allan J. Ferguson serving as celebrant.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer.
Memorial contributions in Mr. McCloy’s memory may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
