Eleanor M. Dunn

A lifelong area resident, she was born January 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Alfred and Velma Soules Thorington.

Eleanor was employed for 37 years at Smith Corona, making many friends in each of the plants while working in manufacturing.

She was a longtime member of the New Testament Church of Peruville and enjoyed dancing and music, especially when Dick played the piano.

Surviving is her loving son, Trevis J. Dunn (Kelly Gregg) of Cortland; her longtime companion and friend, Dick Westfall of Dryden; two grandchildren, Brycen and Raeanna Dunn; brothers, Larry Thorington of Preble and Richard Thorington of McGraw; three sisters, Sharon Strauf of Cortland; Betsy Brewer of Norwich and Loretta Taylor of Tyler, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Dunn in 1996 and two brothers, Kenneth Thorington in 1992 and Garry Thorington in 2010.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, with Pastor John Iler officiating. Interment in Cortland Rural Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
