Morrison J. Hurlbert

A lifelong Cortland resident, Mort was born July 13, 1934 a son of the late Reno G. and Mary Newman Hurlbert.

He attended Cortland High School and served briefly in the United States Army, opting to come home and care for his father.

He was employed for many years at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland, retiring in 2001. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, especially with his nephews.

Mort is survived by a sister, Melissa (Fred) Spafford of Cortland; sister-in-law, Shirley Hurlbert of Marathon and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, William R. Hurlbert in 2003.

In keeping with Mort’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter will be at the convenience of the family.
