
Ronnie was born October 8, 1953 in Clifton Springs, NY, a son of the late Richard E. and Violet Keen Bassett.
He was an avid fisherman, working for a time on a fishing boast in Florida. RJ was previously employed at Smith Corona and was a truck driver for several years, retiring due to his declining health.
He loved being with family and friends, whether it be going out to eat or seeing a movie.
Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Lou Anne Simons of Homer; his siblings, Deborah (Frederick) Monroe of East Freetown; Richard (Charlene) Prosser of Tully; Rodney (Anne) Bassett of Genoa; Daniel (Carol) Bassett of East Freetown; Glenn (Pam) Bassett, Jr. of McGraw; Glenda (Allen) McKee of Cincinnatus and Christina Bassett of Cortland. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special Aunt and Uncle, Margaret and George Gaines of Cortland.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Michael Bassett and a sister, Judy Falter.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Donald
L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer.
